Spotify currently has over 2 million podcasts. According to the company, this is an increase of 1,500% in the last three years alone.
The next big thing on Spotify: Podcasts
At the Stream On event, Spotify made a number of announcements to show its commitment to an audio-dominated (especially podcast) future.
Spotify has announced that SoundUp, a feature aimed at increasing platform diversity, will be expanded from 6 countries, including India, to 14 countries. The company also announced that it has signed a multi-year podcast deal. Avengers: Endgame AGBO production company of directors. The director will produce several series for Spotify.

Spotify also announced new exclusive podcast shows, including former President Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen’s “Renegade: Born in America” podcast and Ava Duvernay’s first podcast project focused on criminal justice. ..

According to Spotify, in 2020, eight out of ten new Spotify podcasts were created using Anchor, the company’s podcast creation platform.

Spotify, which we call this the “future format of audio,” allows creators to curate songs directly from the platform’s music catalog to podcasts. Listeners can use this feature to find and find new music they have heard in these episodes.
But one of my personal favorite announcements was the new partnership between Spotify and WordPress. This allows new creators to turn their content directly into podcasts. This creator tool is now available.
Spotify also states that creators will be able to add videos to their podcasts.
In addition, Spotify plans to add interactive tools for podcast creators. Like polls and questions and answers.

In addition, at this event, Spotify confirmed plans to launch a paid podcast subscription on the platform. Currently used by over 1 million creators, Spotify for Artists will soon be added to support 25 languages. The platform will soon open Canvas loop visuals to all artists, expand Marquee marketing tools, and launch discovery mode as a test later this year.

Golden age of audio
Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek has set the vision for a “new golden age of audio” and also revealed that more than 1.8 million albums will be released on the platform in 2020. According to Ek, Spotify has expanded to 93 markets since 2008, and the streaming platform now has more than 345 million listeners. Spotify’s library contains over 70 million tracks, 4.5 billion playlists, and over 2 million podcasts.
From smartphones to car infotainment systems, Spotify is used on 2,000 different devices, Ek said.
Spotify also saw an increase in the number of creators on the platform, with more than 8 million creators recorded by the end of 2020. Ek believes the platform could have more than 50 million creators by 2025.
Jeremy Erlich, co-head of music on Spotify, added some more statistics to this. Over 60,000 new tracks are delivered to Spotify daily, and in 2020 Spotify added 76,000 artists to its playlists for the first time.

Spotify’s Chief R & D Officer states that over 50,000 hours of content are uploaded to the platform every hour.

Spotify’s biggest announcement of the day was to roll out its service to 80 new markets around the world in the coming days.

The platform also announced that it will add support for 36 new languages, including Hindi, Romanian and Swahili.

At Stream On, Spotify also announced plans to launch a new subscription layer called HiFi for high-quality audio later this year. This is some markets. Spotify didn’t specify the cost of a new subscription plan or where to first deploy it.

And he said that Spotify, a feature that wasn’t really surprising, is testing clips that are essentially Instagram story-like. This feature is currently being tested with some users in some regions, but will soon be rolled out to other markets and users.

Spotify also announced SoundBetter, a new tool that allows creators to hire other music production professionals. For the creators themselves, this feature serves as an opportunity to be discovered by experts. Basically, it’s a mini LinkedIn for music production professionals.
Spotify in india
Spotify is also celebrating its second anniversary in India. India’s Spotify listeners streamed an average of nearly 150 artists and three podcasts in 2020. Spotify also revealed that 90% of Indian podcast listeners are now under 35 years old.
Spotify also states that the number of podcasts created at Anchor in India has increased 80-fold over the year since February 2020.
Another interesting number: Indian listeners streamed happy music in 2020 rather than 2019. During this time, Spotify India has increased the average happiness of all music streams by 2%.
