Nikhil Kamath, the youngest billionaire in India, has taken the lead with an impressive net worth of $3.1 billion, as per the latest Forbes Billionaires List of 2024. Alongside him, his brother and fellow Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath, as well as Flipkart co-founders Sachin and Binny Bansal, have also made their mark as some of the country’s youngest billionaires.

At just 37 years old, Nikhil Kamath claims the top spot on the list, while Mukesh Ambani retains his title as India’s wealthiest individual, boasting a staggering net worth of $116 billion. Close behind is Gautam Adani, with a net worth of $84 billion, securing the 17th position on the list.

Nikhil Kamath, born on September 5, 1986, in Karnataka, took an unconventional path by discontinuing formal education after completing the 10th standard.

His brother, Nithin Kamath, hails from a Konkani family in Shivamogga, Karnataka. Their father, U.R. Kamath, served as an executive at Canara Bank, while their mother, Revathi, played a significant role in Nithin’s musical upbringing, teaching him to play the vena.

The dynamic duo of Nithin and Nikhil Kamath co-founded Zerodha, a discount brokerage firm, in 2010. Their disruptive approach revolutionized India’s brokerage market, attracting over 12 million clients and establishing Zerodha as one of the nation’s largest brokerage firms.

In addition to Zerodha, the Kamath brothers launched Rainmatter, a venture capital fund and incubator focused on investing in fintech companies and promoting financial inclusion. Their investment management firm, True Beacon, caters to ultra-high-net-worth investors and operates on a zero-fee model. Nikhil Kamath further demonstrated his philanthropic commitment by pledging to the Giving Pledge in June 2023.

Nikhil Kamath holds the 1062nd position on the Forbes list, boasting a net worth of $3.1 billion. Following closely are Binny Bansal, aged 41, and Sachin Bansal, both with a net worth of $1.4 billion and respective ranks of 2152 and 2410. Shamsheer Vayalil, founder of Burjeel Holdings, secures the fifth spot in terms of age, with a net worth of $3.5 billion and an overall rank of 920. Ravi Modi of Vedant Fashions, aged 47, follows with a net worth of $2.6 billion.
