Toyota, a Japanese car maker, plans to launch the Hilux pickup truck, which is globally popular in the Indian market, in January 2022. This lifestyle pickup is positioned as a premium replacement for the Isuzu V-Cross. It is based on the IMV-2 platform that underpins Innova Crysta and Fortuner. The Hilux is 5.3 meters long and has a wheelbase over 3 meters.
The pickup shares many components and interior features with Innova & Fortuner. You will receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Hilux may be equipped with a 204bhp, 2.4 liter diesel engine. Higher variants can receive a 204bhp, 2.8-liter diesel engine with a two-wheel or four-wheel drive layout. Korean car maker Kia plans to announce the long-awaited Carens 3 train in December 2021. The new model will be available in early 2022, probably by March. The 3-row model is likely to undergo crossover MPV styling and can be placed against the Suzuki XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
Kia Carens is about 4.5 meters long and lies between Ertiga and Innova Crysta. It may be based on a modified version of the SP2 platform that underpins Hyundai Alcazar. American SUV maker Jeep will launch the long-awaited Meridian 7-seater SUV in the Indian market in the first half of 2022. Production of the new three-row SUV will begin at FCA’s Langjungaon facility by April 2022. As a base for exporting Jeep Meridian SUVs to other RHD (Right-Hand-Drive) markets around the world.
It is based on a modified small wide 4×4 platform that underpins the compass and Renegade. The new model is comparable to Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Skoda Kodiac, etc. in the 7-seater category. The upcoming Jeep Meridian will be equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the compass. This engine can produce 173bhp and 200Nm of torque.
