With a bitter confession of guilt, a woman from California, USA, admitted to drowning her three children. Liliana Carrillo, 30, confessed that her son Terry and daughters Joanna and Sierra had been killed during a prison interview.

Joanna was three years old, Terry was two years old, and Sierra was only six months old. They lived with Carilo and his father Eric Denton in an apartment in Reseda, Los Angeles.

Last weekend, the bodies of her three children were recovered from the apartment. Police arrested Liliana on charges of murder in Tulare County a few hours later.

Californian mothers say they drowned their children to “protect them” from their abusive fathers. “I drowned them. I calmed it down, I don’t know how to explain it,” Carilo told KGET-TV in an interview at the Leldo Pre-Test Facility in Kern County.

Liliana Carilo said she hoped she would spend the rest of her life in prison, but said she wished her children were alive. “I hope they will not be tortured or ill-treated on a regular basis for the rest of their lives,” she said.

Eric Denton accused Carrillo of being delusional while seeking custody of children in March of this year. In return, Carilo issued a detention order to him, stating that Denton was alcoholic and may have sexually abused his eldest daughter.

Carrillo also said in an interview that he intended to drive off the cliff but was arrested by police before committing suicide.

On Wednesday, Carrillo was acquitted in a court in Kern County for four felony charges: car theft, carjacking, and attempted carjacking.

However, the murder charge has not yet been filed against her.
