The Taliban Ministry of Education states that all male students are in grades 6-12 and that male teachers need to resume classes on Saturday.

A statement released Friday on Facebook did not include a girl of that age. The lack of guidance highlighted ongoing concerns that the Taliban might impose restrictions on girls and women. The Taliban had previously allowed 1st to 6th grade girls to resume class.

In the past, hardline groups that hijacked Afghanistan last month banned girls and women from attending school or work.

In some states, women are still not allowed to continue working, except for women who have worked in the health sector, hospitals, and educational institutions.
