Sri Lanka convincingly defeated Ireland in 70 runs to consolidate their position in Super 12 of the 2201 T20 World Cup, but captain Dasun Shanaka said their top order was in tournaments so far. I’m not happy with the fact that it wasn’t done.

Sri Lanka may have played in Super 12 of the 2021 T20 World Cup, but captain Dasun Shanaka is worried about top-order performance at the tournament highlights.
After defeating Ireland with 70 runs in the opening round of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday, Sri Lanka became the first team to advance to Super 12.
Off-spinner Paul Sterling outperformed opener Ksar Perera in just two deliveries. Meanwhile, Dinesh Candimar and Abishka Fernando also beat Sri Lanka 8-3 with just 10 balls, raising concerns about top orders.
“I was a little worried. I was a little worried about the top position. I was planning to move Hasalanga up before the World Cup,” Shanaka said in a post-match presentation.
Wanindu Hasalanga hit 71 with a bat as the 2014 champion first hit 171 with 7 at bats. He then sent off Ireland 101 in Abu Dhabi with a Mystery Spin from Mahesh Shikshana.
The Sri Lankan captain also said the Asian defense and top orders need to be improved.
“It’s a great luxury to have fast-paced players. They’re accurate. They’re also coaches. We need to improve on top orders and in the field,” Shanaka said.
Ireland will face Namibia in the final round of the game, ensuring Sri Lanka’s position in Super 12. Also, when they defeated the Netherlands on Friday, they took the lead, England, Australia, the West Indies, and South Africa in Group 1 as Team A1.
Ireland and Namibia, meanwhile, will compete in a thrilling match where the winner will advance to Super 12.
