Skoda Auto India is ready to enter the mid-sized SUV segment with a brand new Vision IN concept-based model. Automakers will announce the official name of their production model in the first week of January 2021. The SUV will make its world debut in March, but will hit Indian roads by mid-2021. The new Skoda SUV is named “Kliq” or “Kosmiq”. The Skoda Vision IN SUV will be the first model to be rolled out under the Brand 2.0 strategy for India.
The new Skoda SUV is designed on the Volkswagen Group’s MQBA0 modular platform.Same architecture Future Volkswagen Taigun Compact SUV.. This is a locally developed platform that claims to combine “optimal amount of space … the highest degree of versatility with state-of-the-art technology.”
The Skoda Vision IN SUV engine setup includes two turbocharged petrol motors, 1.0LTSI and 1.5LTSI. The former produces 110PS top power with a torque of 175Nm, while the latter is sufficient for 150PS and 250Nm. Smaller capacity engines may come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes, while larger capacity motors may come with 7-speed DSG automatic transmissions.
The· Future Skoda SUV It’s packed with 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, 3-spoke steering wheel, connected car technology, ambient lights, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroofs and much more. In terms of safety, Vision IN offers multiple airbags, rear parking sensors and cameras, ABS with EBD and more.
Vision IN concept-based SUVs will be Skoda’s answer to Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, who currently dominate the segment. Models can be priced in the range of 10 to 16 rupees (excluding showrooms).
