After launching the new Kushaq medium-sized SUV, Skoda is ready to launch a brand new locally developed sedan called Slavia in the country. In addition, the company plans to announce a new Codiac 7-seater premium SUV early next year. The new Skoda Slavia may make its global debut in November 2021, but is scheduled for launch in early 2022.
Czech carmakers have officially released camouflage photos of slavia sedans placed against Honda City and Hyundai Accent. This is the second model of the brand under the Volkswagen Group’s India Plan 2.0. It will be launched as a replacement for the aging rapid sedan. The new Skoda Slavia will be developed on the VW Group’s localized MQB AO IN platform. The platform is versatile enough to accommodate a variety of body styles and engine options.
It’s about 4.5 meters long and has the potential to ride on the segment’s largest wheelbase of 2,651mm. The long wheelbase helps Skoda free up more space in the cabin. It may provide more than 500 liters of trunk space. Skoda Slavia is available in two engine options: 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. The former is suitable for torques of 113bhp and 175Nm, while the latter provides an output of 147bhp and torque of 250Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic with 1.0L petrol, and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L petrol.
Prices are estimated at around 9.5 to 15 rupees, and the new Skoda Slavia sedan is comparable to the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Martis Zuxias.
BS6 Skoda Kodiac
The new BSVI compliant Skoda Kushaq was scheduled to go on sale during the festive season. However, the release was postponed early next year. It is reportedly scheduled to go on sale in January 2022. The new model comes with some cosmetic redesigns and an upgraded interior.
When it comes to styling changes, the new Kodiak gets a revised Grill and slim headlamp unit with a separate LED module underneath the main unit. At the rear, the SUV gets an LED tail lamp with a crystalline effect. SUVs are offered in three trim levels: active, ambition and style. These trims have aluminum effect trim on the front and rear aprons.
The new Skoda Kodiaq is powered by a BSVI-compliant 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, producing 187bhp output and 320Nm of torque. A 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox is standard equipment, and a 4×4 system may be offered as an option.
