Sense: Sensex has exceeded 500 points in the opening session. Nifty tops 17,200

Mumbai: Early on Tuesday, equity benchmark Senssex surpassed 500 points, driven by rising index majors TCS, Infosys and Bajaj Finance.
The 30-share index was trading at 57,765.33, which was 504.75 points or 0.88% higher in the first trade. Similarly, Nifty rose 149.65 points or 0.88% to 17,203.60.
PowerGrid is the top gain in the Sensex pack, rising about 5%, followed by Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, SBI, TCS and Infosys.
Dr. Reddies, on the other hand, was the only Sensex member to trade with losses.
In the previous session, the BSE index for 30 shares rose 153.43 points or 0.27%, ending at 57,260.58. And the wider NSE Nifty rose 27.50 points or 0.16% to 17,053.95.
Foreign institutional investors (FII) were net selling in the capital markets as they sold shares worth R3,332.21 on Monday, according to exchange data.
In other parts of Asia, the Hong Kong and Seoul stock exchanges were in the red, while the Shanghai and Tokyo stock exchanges were trading profitably during the session.
The US stock exchange has risen and closed in an overnight session.
Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, rose 0.72% to $ 73.97 a barrel.
