Bhubaneswar: Repeating his commitment to transform SCB medical colleges and hospitals into “AIIMS Plus” institutions with world-class medical infrastructure, Prime Minister Navine Patnerk said on Friday for better medical care for everyone in Orissa. As part of that transformation agenda, the Government of Navine Patnerk has already announced a redevelopment plan for the state’s medical colleges and hospitals, founded in 1944, for Rupees 3,500.

The redevelopment project will occupy more than 175 acres in two phases. The goal is to develop a facility with 3,500 beds in the first stage and increase the number of floors to 5,000 in the second stage. Phase 1 redevelopment is expected to be ready by January 2024.

“Today, the state of Orissa is known for many illustrious achievements. But there were times when Odisha was less well known, but even then-the sign of excellence-Bada Daktarakana-was outstanding.
