Edmonton. Alberta: Edmonton Oilers put goalkeeper Mike Smith on the injured list on Wednesday due to a lower body injury.
The Oilers have recalled goalkeeper Stuart Skinner from the American Hockey League Bakersfield Condors.
39-year-old Smith was injured in the second phase of Edmonton, who defeated Anaheim Ducks 6-5 at home on Tuesday night. He was superseded by Mikko Koskinen on the net.
Oilers coach Dave Tippett said after the match Smith would tweak something and see a doctor Wednesday morning.
Smith has played three times in the Oilers (3-0-0) this season with an ERA of .920 and an ERA of 3.08. He signed a two-year $ 4.4 million extension with Edmonton in July.
