Men in Blue Sweep New Zealand under the Carpet

The Men in Blue, that is, Team India has swept New Zealand under the carpet and won with 7 strikes in the second game of the T20I or T20 International series. Under the new and able leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India chose to let the Australian Cricket Team bat first after winning the coin toss for the second consecutive time, during the toss session. Sharma knew pretty well what exactly the venue they were playing at was known for. This cricket ground is very well known for the dewdrops that start falling fairly early after sunset, therefore Rohit Sharma’s decision was wise and well-made. And it was not just Sharma’s wise decision that turned the game into a victory against New Zealand for India. The Indian bowlers gave their all to this game and made a thrilling comeback after the Powerplay to restrict the New Zealand cricket team from being able to make more runs than they possibly could.

And what’s more? Well, debutante Harshal Patel has most definitely shown the way forward to any young person of the country who would want to go ahead and take cricketing up as a sport and a full time career in the future. Sharma also took the perfect decision when it came to the idea that they developed- chasing rather than batting it out, especially when dew is going to fall soon after. He did the right thing because the 154 runs they chased turned into a very easy win for India at the JSCA International Stadium on Friday, the 20th of November, 2021. This win also means that India has already taken away the three-match series before the third T20I match which is supposed to be held in Kolkata. With this being the first series under the captain-coach partnership of Sharma and Dravid, this win seems to show a great future waiting for the Men in Blue from now onwards.

Not only did Harshal Patel show up with an amazing bowling display of 2-25, but the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel really showed the New Zealand Cricket Team who was the boss bowler among the two. India struck the target down with almost 16 balls left to make with New Zealand reaching just a paltry 155/3, thereby leading to a 7 wicket win for India. Sharma was also in form with his score game, belting out a great 55 for 36 and also sharing a 117 run opening stand with K.L. Rahul who turned out to be the highest scorer of the match with a great 65 runs off 49 balls, clinching the series with a great hooray.

“We know the quality of our spinners and can always pull things back. The bench strength, these guys have been performing consistently, so there’s pressure on the guys on the field”, said Rahul Sharma as he emphasized on how the entire win against New Zealand was not a one man game, but definitely a team effort with the players of the team in perfect shape.
