North Korea tested railroad missiles in launch training on Friday, state media KCNA said Saturday, marking a third weapons test this month, which triggered a US push of new sanctions against isolated states. ..
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said it had detected two presumed short-range ballistic missiles launched east of North Pyongan on the northwest coast of North Korea.
The official news agency of the Korean Central News Agency said that the launch training was conducted for the first time in September last year for the government to “check and judge the proficiency level of the railway regimen’s action procedure.” Intimidation army.
This is the third time North Korea has launched a ballistic missile since New Year’s Day, an unusually fast-paced weapons test. The previous two launches involved state media called “hypersonic missiles” that could be steered after launch at high speeds.
Training took place shortly after North Korea accused the United States of pursuing new UN sanctions as a “provocation” of its recent series of launches and warned of a strong reaction.
North Korean Prime Minister Kim Jong Un did not participate in the training. The KCNA said it was held “in a hurry” from the military staff, but the regiment accurately attacked the target set on the east coast with “two tactical guided missiles.”
The regiment “showed high maneuverability and attack rate” and discussed how to “set up an appropriate railroad missile operation system nationwide,” KCNA said.
North Korea defended the missile test as a sovereignty of self-defense and accused the United States of deliberately exacerbating the situation with new sanctions.
Washington has accused the latest launch of threatening North Korea’s neighbors and the international community, repeatedly calling for the resumption of stagnant denuclearization negotiations.
