We are all aware of the pollution that involves Delhi and its surroundings at the beginning of winter. Pollution levels in the national capital have been at an alarming rate since the last few years. This year’s pollution is so bad that it can be seen from space! Yes, the American space agency NASA shared a photo showing the level of air pollution and identified the problem causing it. A photo tweeted by NASA Earth shows that fire activity in northwestern India has increased as farmers burn extra rice straw after harvesting.

Local farmers like Punjab and Haryana are using fire as a quick and cheap way to get rid of stubble while making the land more fertile. In a blog post, NASA wrote on November 11th, a suite of visible infrared image radiometers for engines on the Suomi NPP satellite, while prolonged monsoon rains have kept fire activity at low levels for weeks longer than usual. (VIIRS) said it had acquired nature-a color image of a river of smoke flowing from a fire in Punjab and Haryana to Delhi. The blog post also states that a fire in northern Pakistan may have contributed to some of the smoke.

“Given the size of the plume on November 11 and the population density of the region, conservative estimates indicate that at least 22 million people were affected by smoke that day,” said Pawan Gupta of the University Space Research Association. I am saying. Scientists at NASA’s Association for the Marshall Space Flight Center (USRA) said in a blog post.

In a Twitter thread, The Weather Channel India also quoted an image from NASA to explain the whole phenomenon. “The images captured by @NASA depict the size of the #StubbleBurning problem by portraying a huge’smoke river’from a fire in Punjab, Hariyana, and even northern Pakistan, extending towards Delhi. “We are emphasizing,” said a Twitter thread on WeatherChannel India.
