All Mumbai railroad authorities are ready to open the city’s first public restaurant today. The long-distance bus of the train was transformed into a restaurant at the entrance of platform number 18 near Heritage Gully in Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The restaurant offers a capacity of 40 diner at a time.
According to a FreePress Journal report, the restaurant will offer an international menu that includes both vegetables and non-vegetables. In addition to meals, there will also be a mini cafe and a juice takeaway window. Once the restaurant is open, you will also be able to order food from the online food delivery app.
The theme inside the restaurant is said to be a depiction of Mumbai’s landmarks and railroad themes. The restaurant has ample parking space and easy access to the suburbs. Authorities will seek to work with the Mumbai Darshan Tour after the restaurant is open to the public, according to the report.
Although it was closed for a while due to the influence of Cyclone Gulab, preparations for opening the store are in full swing. The blue coating has been replaced by a mustard color with added shades of black and brown. Food prices were finalized by the contractor in consultation with the Central Rail Authority. Authorities expect to earn about 42 rupees per 10,000 rupees from the contractor. Due to limited coach space, kitchen facilities have been refurbished. Diner furniture is manufactured on-site only to keep a safe distance in the restaurant where the coach turned. The final finishing and painting are also completed.
Authorities have decided to open more such restaurants in the city along the Central and Western Lines. One railroad official said the report said other restaurants would open in locations such as Kurla LTT, Thane and Kalyan. The process for the same will begin shortly, officials said.
Similarly, Western Railway authorities are planning to open such restaurants in Bandra Terminus, Borivali and Surat. Authorities have confirmed the feasibility of such a restaurant at Andeli Station, but have not focused on any of these stations mentioned.
