Washington: Microsoft, the tech giant in the United States, has released the next permanent version of Microsoft Office for commercial customers, and promised a consumer release of Office 2021 on October 5th.
According to The Verge, the Microsoft Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) for Windows and Mac has been released for commercial and government users, offering a lock-in-time release of Office that does not require a subscription.
Office LTSC is designed for businesses in regulated industries that cannot change processes and apps on a monthly basis, or for manufacturing plants that rely on Office and require a locked-in time release.
The AI and cloud-based features found in Microsoft 365 are not included. Also, no new features will be provided. Microsoft has supported Office LTSC for five years and is working on another persistent version of Office in the future.
The Perpetual Release of Consumer Office 2021 is very similar, offering a locked-in time release without feature updates. Microsoft lists the following additional features in Office LTSC: This also applies to Office 2021.
-Line focus. This is similar to a read mode that removes distractions and moves a Word document line by line.
–XLOOKUP Function-Useful for finding things within a table or row-by-row range of an Excel worksheet.
-Dynamic array support-A new feature in Excel that uses dynamic arrays.
-Dark Mode-All Office apps include support for Dark Mode.
However, Microsoft, of course, recommends Microsoft 365 for both businesses and consumers. Microsoft has more than 300 million paid Office 365 seats on the commercial side.
The company recently announced the first price increases for both Microsoft 365 and Office 365, which will come into effect in March 2022.
Microsoft hasn’t detailed the price of Office 2021 yet, but the tech giant said it would be generally available on October 5, the same day Windows 11 goes on sale.
