MG Motors has officially announced the launch of a new SUV in the Indian market by the end of this year. The company is most likely to launch a gasoline derivative of ZSSUV. In fact, MG ZS petrol has already been tested many times on Indian roads.
MG Astor (ZS Gasoline) Main Details
The SUV is already registered as a trademark in India and is rumored to be called MG Astor. ZS Gasoline’s medium-sized SUVs will be placed against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, the upcoming Skodak Shak and Volkswagen Taigun. For those who don’t know, MG Motors exhibited ZS Gasoline at the 2020 Automobile Expo.
The MG Astor is about 4.3 meters long, significantly smaller than the Hector’s 4.6 meters. Dimensionally, ZS Gasoline is 4,314mm long, 1,809mm wide, 1,644mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,585mm. The minimum ground clearance of the SUV is 205mm. From the spy image, it can be seen that the Indian model is based on the remodeled version sold in some international markets. The new midsize SUV, internally called Model K, will be redesigned and the cabin will be upgraded.
The SUV gets a revised front fascia with sharper headlamps and a new front grille with redesigned bumpers on the sides. Behind, the SUV will get a new LED tail lamp. The cabin may get new features and a slightly revised dashboard. You may get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system compared to the ZS EV’s 8.0-inch unit. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Navigation. The display is used for 360 degree cameras.
The MG Astor is equipped with a fully digital instrument console that displays multiple pieces of information such as tire pressure.is It is rumored to be equipped with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Astor is expected to acquire features such as automatic emergency braking system, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, head-on collision warning, and active driver assistance features such as hands-free automatic parking.
MG ZS petrol may be offered in two engine options: 1.5 liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.3 liter turbocharged petrol. A naturally aspirated gasoline engine produces about 120bhp and 150Nm of torque, while a turbocharged engine can produce 163bhp of output and 230Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options may be offered.
