Maruti Suzuki India, the nation’s largest automobile manufacturer, has announced its financial results for the third quarter of the 2020-21 fiscal year (third quarter of 2009). The company’s net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2020 was 1,941 chlores, a significant growth of 24.1% compared to 1,564 chlores in the year-ago quarter. From October to December 2020, automakers’ net profit was 22,236 chlores, an increase of 13.2% compared to the third quarter of fiscal year 2019-20, when revenues were 19,649 chlores.

Maruti Suzuki said quarterly operating profit was 14,84 chlores, a growth of 19.3% compared to the same October-December period of 2019. The company said it was due to increased sales and reduced costs. Efforts were partially offset by rising commodity prices and unfavorable foreign exchange fluctuations.

During the same period in October and December 2020, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 495,897 vehicles, a 13.4% increase over the year-ago quarter. Domestic market sales alone increased 13% to 467,369 units and exports increased 20.6% to 28,528 units.

In terms of year-to-date (YTD) figures, the company’s consolidated net income from April to December 2020 was 3,063 chlores, down 29.7% from 4,358 chlores in the year-ago quarter. Over the past nine months, Maruti Suzuki has recorded net sales of 43,603 chlores, down 20% from the 54,504 chlores revenue achieved in the year-ago quarter. Between April and December 2020, automakers sold a total of 965,626 vehicles, down 18% year-on-year. Sales in the domestic market were 905,015 units, down 17.8%, while exports were down nearly 22% to 60,611 units.
