The government plans to submit the “National Institute for Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Revised) Bill 2021” at Lok Sabha on Thursday. Discussions on the Covid-19 pandemic and various aspects related to it may also take place in the House of Representatives.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will move Lok Sabha’s National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill to amend the 1998 National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Act.
Under Rule 193, discussions may take place on the Covid-19 pandemic and various aspects associated with it. Members can also express concern and call for government preparation for a new variant of Omicron, sources said. Under Rule 193, members can request more information about the new Covid variant. “Short-term discussions are likely to take place at Lok Sabha on Covid and its various aspects, including new Omicron variants,” sources said.
Federal Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat, Prarad Singh Patel, General VK Singh, Christian Pal, Bane Platap Verma, Rameshwar Teri and Kaushall Kishore will place the paperwork on the table. Various Standing Committee reports and action reports will also be prepared on the day.
On Wednesday, Lok Sabha passed the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Amendment) Bill 2021 (ART) by voice voting after the amendment was rejected by DMK MP NK Prem Chandran, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy, and Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut. ART Bill aims to regulate fertility clinics. All such clinics must be registered in the national register of Indian banks and clinics.
Opposition may continue to speak out about rising prices, unemployment, and increased jurisdiction over border guards (BSFs) in some states. Opposition parties are also demanding legislation that guarantees a minimum support price (MSP).
