Lionel Messi said Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski deserves last year’s award and is looking forward to the award presenter France Football. This was the seventh time Messi received the coveted personal award.
“It’s great to be here again. I thought this was the last two years ago. It was important to beat the Copa America,” Messi said at the Chatelet in Paris.
“This is a special year for me with the Copa America title. Winning at the Maracana Stadium made a lot of sense and I was very happy to celebrate with the Argentine people.
“I don’t know if it’s the best year of my life, but I have a long career, but after a tough time and criticism, it was a special year with the title of Argentina.”
Messi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain with a free transfer from Barcelona during the closing season after finishing as LaLiga’s top scorer at a Spanish club, scored 613 points and Lewandowski of Bayern Munich was named the best striker on Monday. I got 580.
