Instagram may soon allow users to upload images and create posts from the desktop

Until recently, Instagram did not allow users to access image sharing platforms from their desktops. However, this has changed and new features are now closer to the applications supported by the desktop version of the platform.

Recent leaks suggest that Instagram may allow users to post photos and videos via the desktop version of the platform. Leakster Alessandro Paluzzi claims that the social media platform is testing new features.

Paluzzi also shared screenshots of the new features via the official Twitter handle. With the look of the new features, Instagram plans to provide an application-like user experience.

Users can upload to Instagram using images and videos in their local computer storage. In addition, you have the option to add filters and crop the image before posting. In the desktop version, the user can add a description and location as well as the process of the application.

It’s unclear when this new feature will be released. Currently, users can only view content via the desktop version.

Instagram has also begun displaying ads in reel format. Image sharing platforms display ads within the “reel” feature. The organization has begun testing ads for this feature in some countries such as India, Brazil, Germany and Australia, displaying ads in the middle of regular content posted by users.

Ads on Instagram reels can be as long as 30 seconds, with a vertical and full-screen design similar to regular uploads on “reels”. Previously, the platform implemented advertising in the story feature. However, unlike Instagram Story ads, Instagram Reels ads can be commented, liked, saved, and shared.
