Indian covid: Sheikh Hasina writes to Modi praising India’s vaccination drive

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for achieving the historic milestone of one billion Covid-19 vaccinations.

In his letter to Modi, Hasina called this the amazing success achieved by dealing with the damage the Covid-19 pandemic caused to humankind.

“This is a major step towards the recovery and normalization of India and the region,” Bangladesh said.

According to Hasina’s letter, India has been an important source of Covid-19 vaccine in Bangladesh since the beginning of the vaccination program and thank the Government of India for resuming exports of the Covishield vaccine.

She also announced that the Bangladeshi government had vaccinated 60 million people and called for joint efforts to combat the pandemic.

The Bangladesh Prime Minister’s letter to the Indian counterpart is important in the context of the joint case in Bangladesh and the Hasina government’s crackdown on perpetrators, including the arrest of the mastermind and the announcement of a swift court trial.
