In concerns about Omicron, President Biden reiterates the importance of getting vaccines, booster shots, health news and ET Health World.

Washington: Due to growing concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19, US President Joe Biden urged Americans to get a vaccine jab on Monday (local time).

“We have to vaccinate, inject, and booster,” Biden said, adding that the Omicron variant is not the cause of panic, but the cause of concern.

In a media briefing on Omicron stock, the president said, “I will fight and defeat this new variant.”

He said that fully vaccinated and boosted individuals are best protected from the deadly COVID-19 infection.

“A fully vaccinated and boosted person is best protected from COVID,” he asked people to wear a mask.

If you need updated vaccination or booster immunization, “use all available tools to accelerate their development and deployment.”

This was after WHO identified the new South African stock as one of its concerns. This is because it has been reported to have a large number of mutations (32), which can increase infectivity and risk. WHO calls it Omicron, the 15th letter of the Greek letter.

Following reports of new variants, the United States, European Union, Canada, Israel, Australia, and other countries have restricted travel from some countries in southern Africa due to health concerns.

Biden had previously stated that he would propose a detailed strategy to combat COVID this winter. He said the blockade was not included and instead included vaccinations and tests.
