Hobert hosts the 5th ash test day and night

Hobart, Australia: Cricket fans in Tasmania received gifts early in Christmas. Hobert’s Bell Reeve Oval will be hosting its first ash test next month.

Cricket Australia confirmed on Saturday that Hobart will hold a fifth test between Australia and England starting January 14th, making it a day and night match.

This replaces a test originally scheduled for the same day in Perth, but had to move from the Western Australian capital due to COVID-19-related quarantine and border restrictions.

This was the first test match in Hobart since 2016 and the last test match did not finish well for Australia. South Africa defeated the homeside with one inning and 80 runs in a match that ended within four days of November 15th of that year.

Hobart was scheduled to host a test match between Australia and Afghanistan last month. It would have been the first among the teams, but was canceled by Cricket Australia following the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan and the ban on the new regime of women’s sports.

The first ash test is underway in Brisbane. Other tests in the series will be in Adelaide, a day and night match starting next Thursday, on the Melbourne Cricket Ground on a traditional Boxing Day test starting December 26th, and in Sydney from January 5th. ..
