Cricket World Cup 2023: Team India’s Best Players

2023 is an exciting year for cricket fans because finally, the ICC’s Men’s Cricket World Cup is happening.

This is a quadrennial ODI tournament that was supposed to be played in February of this year, but the pandemic impacted the schedule. The International Cricket Council (ICC) eventually announced that the tournament would be moved to the second half of 2023.

India will finally be hosting the tournament and it’s a big deal since we all know how the country is so passionate about this sport. With a home-court advantage, many are also talking about India possibly winning.

The last time India won the World Cup was in 2011 and this happened on home soil. The other time they won was in 1983, so we can all understand how the country is longing for more championships.

Well, in this article, let’s take a look at India’s players to watch out for in the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup.

India’s Full Squad and Playing XI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced the 15-member squad for this year’s World Cup. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya is then named the vice-captain.

Here’s the list of India’s full squad this year for the Cricket World Cup:

Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav.

Rohit said that they picked the best possible combination for the tournament. He said, “We have picked the best possible combination. We have depth in batting [and] we have spin and other bowling options. Pandya is a complete package, and his form will be crucial…”

While that’s the case, many are also talking about KL Rahul’s return. Some are saying that Rahul might struggle this year because he’s been recovering from an injury that he got in the Indian Premier League earlier this year.

However, the chief selector of the Indian national team, Ajit Agarkar said that Rahul is looking good. He explained that the Asia Cup showed how Rahul has gotten over the injury. He’s an important player and they’re simply happy to have him.

Aside from Rahul, Shreyas Iyer also recently recovered from an injury. He was also reported to still experience back spasms during the Asia World Cup.

He’s had a bulging slipped disc and has undergone surgery. The BCCI said he only needs rest and this was why he didn’t play during India’s Super 4 match against Sri Lanka. There are talks that there’s a chance that he’ll be replaced.

The teams competing this year still have until September 28 to make changes to their lineup.

Star Players of the Indian National Team

So, which players should other teams and cricket fans watch out for? Whether you’re simply curious or you’re already preparing to participate in CWC 2023 betting online activities, here are the players we’re expecting to do well this season:

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has established himself as a potent fast bowler. His ability to swing the ball both ways and generate pace makes him a key asset for India. He’s also known for his deadly yorkers, so he can be a game-changer in the death overs.

Shubman Gill

Many would agree that Shubman Gill is a stylish batsman who has an impeccable technique. He’s one of the most consistent players domestically in international cricket tourneys, and his batting skills will be a great addition to the team.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is a dynamic left-handed opening batsman known for his aggressive stroke play and fearless approach. His exuberance and energy can provide India with explosive starts, so we’ll likely see him playing XI.

 Suryakumar Yadav

Yadav is known to be a reliable finisher with his innovative shots. He’s a T20 sensation who’s made a significant impact in T20 leagues. This versatile middle-order batsman will be interesting to watch play.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya is one of the best all-rounders today. His ability to excel in the death overs with the bat and bowl crucial overs under pressure adds depth to the team. He’s VC for a good reason and his experience in major tournaments will be instrumental for India’s success.

 Wrapping Up

Some may be talking about certain players missing this season like Sanju Samson, but India’s lineup surely looks promising. Will players KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer be in full form for the tournament?

Things are looking up and we can only wait and see how they and the rest of the team will perform this year. The 2023 Cricket World Cup will run from October 5 – November 19, 2023.
