Govinda Speaks Out After Bullet Injury: “I Was Shot, and the Bullet Has Been Removed”
Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda underwent emergency surgery on Tuesday at Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, after accidentally shooting himself in the leg due to a misfire from his licensed gun. Fortunately, the former MP is now out of danger and on the road to recovery.
In an audio statement shared with the media by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde, Govinda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his well-wishers. He said, “Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Thanks to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I extend my thanks to the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support.”
According to reports, Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata when the accident occurred. His close aide, Shashi Sinha, explained the circumstances surrounding the incident. “He is out of danger and doing well,” Sinha confirmed to Indian Express. “He was about to leave for Kolkata when the incident happened. Govinda was storing his licensed revolver properly in the almirah when it fell to the ground. While handling the weapon, it accidentally discharged. The injury is below the left knee, and the bullet has now been removed. His daughter Tina is present at the hospital, and he is talking to everyone and doing alright.”
Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, is by his side at the hospital. She shared with Indian Express that the actor underwent surgery and that the bullet has been successfully removed. She mentioned that he will be kept in the ICU for a day while doctors monitor his health. Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was traveling at the time of the incident, also rushed back to be with him.
