Arlington, Texas: Houston Astros, a leader in the American League West, put starter Jake Odorizzi on the injured list for 10 days on Tuesday due to a pain in his right leg from play when he covered first base.
The Odrigis roster was filled by right-handed Zack Greinke. Zack Greinke returned from the COVID-19 injury list on Tuesday, making his first scheduled start on the 16th. His last start was also against the Rangers on August 29th.
Dusty Baker said Odorizzi had an MRI on Tuesday.
Odorizzi was injured twice in the series opener on Monday night. After tossing from first baseman Yuli Gurriel towards the bag, Odorizzi shortened his steps to touch the base and escape Nick Solak.
Immediately after playing, the pitcher’s facial expression felt something was wrong. Odorizzi was also clearly worried when he stood there for a moment before returning to the mound and calling an athletic trainer. He frowned as he threw the warm-up pitch and immediately ended the game.
