South Korean car maker Hyundai plans to launch two new cars in the Indian market within the next year. In addition, the company will bring the global NLine performance brand to market. Hyundai’s best-selling midsize SUV, Crete, will also receive a midlife update in the near future.
The company will launch a new Casper micro SUV in Japan in 2022. The new micro SUV will be first launched in South Korea and will begin mass production on September 15, 2021. The new micro SUVs are the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, and the upcoming Tata HBX micro SUV.
Hyundai Casper shares the platform and mechanical bits with Santro and Grand i10 Nios. The vehicle is reportedly powered by a 1.0-liter Smartstream petrol engine that produces 75bhp of output and 95Nm of torque. A 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is standard equipment. Indian models may share Santro’s 68bhp, 1.1L engine or 82bhp, 1.2-liter petrol engine to power the Grand i10 Nios. Transmission options may include 5-speed manual and AMT.
Korean car makers are preparing new MPVs comparable to Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. The new MPV, often referred to as the Hyundai Stargazer, will be launched in growing markets such as India, Indonesia and Russia. The new MPV, internally called the Hyundai KS, will make its global debut in 2022.
The new MPV is based on a modified version of Crete’s platform that underpins Alcazar. It is approximately 4.5 meters long and may be offered as an option with 6 and 7 seats. The Indian model may be offered in two engine options: 113bhp, 1.5L petrol and 113bhp, 1.5L diesel. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are offered.
The company has the potential to launch the i20 N line in the country during the holiday season prior to Diwali 2021. The hatchback will be modified to match the brand’s global i20N line. There are restyled bumpers, a blackened grille with a “checkered flag” pattern, an impressive N-line badge, and additional skirting boards with contrasting gray stripes. The hatch will also be equipped with new triangular fog lights and a chrome-plated twin exhaust. The hatchback rides on a newly styled dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheel.
Inside the cabin, there is an N badge and sports front seats with red stitching that contrasts with the dedicated N steering wheel. It also comes with a metal pedal and an N gear shift knob with a red insert. It is equipped with a 118bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. Transmission options include a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed iMT. The new Hyundai i20N line is expected to be refined in terms of suspension, engine response and exhaust noise.
The spy image confirms that the front fascia of Crete’s facelift will undergo a comprehensive change. Design inspiration from the 4th generation Tucson recently launched on the international market. It will get a new parametric grille with LED DRL and a new projector headlamp. We will also review the front bumper, fog lamp assembly, and faux kid plate. You may also get new alloys and split tail lamps.
The new Crete will also receive new leather upholstery, 360 degree cameras, HUDs (Heads Up Units) and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Maintain existing engine options (113bhp, 1.5L diesel, 113bhp, 1.5L petrol, 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol).
