The Durga Ashtami opportunity is important for the Bengal community celebrating the Durga Pugja, which begins on the sixth day of the festival, Shashti. Durga Ashtamis, also known as Mahastami, is the day when it is believed that the incarnation of Shakti, the goddess of Chamunda, is worshiped.
