Sofia: British manager Alan Pardew, who left ADO Den Haag on the Dutch side in April, has been appointed technical director of CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria, the club announced on Monday.

A 59-year-old former Newcastle, West Ham, and Crystal Palace boss “signed his personal contract and started working immediately,” said a statement on CSKA’s official website.

As a technical director in Bulgarian management, Purdue added that he would support “the overall development of the club and the transfer of footballers.”

CSKA Sofia, one of Bulgaria’s oldest and most popular football clubs, appointed Bosnian manager Bruno Akrapovič as head coach in early November.

The team was the last in UEFA Europa League Group A after two defeats and a draw.

CSKA will face Swiss Super League champion Young Boys in their next round of home games on November 26, after losing 3-0 in the away game.
