Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody appointed Sri Lanka cricket coach

Columbo: Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody has been appointed director of cricket in Sri Lanka, the country’s cricket committee said on Sunday.

Moody has been appointed to post a recommendation by the Sri Lanka Cricket Technical Advisory Board after recent poor shows to South Africa and England.

Moody has a three-year contract, which expects the 55-year-old to perform a 300-day “mandatory mission.”

His duties include “National Tournament Structure, Player Welfare, Education and Skill Development, Coaching and Support Staff Structure, Analysis of Future Tour Programs Focusing on High Performance and Data Analysis” SLC said in a statement.

Moody’s appointments are valid from Monday.

Moody was the head coach of Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2007 when the island nation advanced to the final of the World Cup in the Caribbean.

Moody was also the director and coach of the Caribbean Premier League cricket, followed by the director of the cricket of Sunrisers Hyderabad and the head coach of Western Australia.

“Tom has worked with Sri Lanka Cricket in the past to show results. With a working knowledge of his system, I’m confident that Tom will bring great value to our game,” said SLC. CEO Ashley De Silva said.
