After the emergence of a new variant of the coronavirus in South Africa, Bitcoin prices plummeted on Saturday, hitting a seven-week low. According to CoinMarketCap, the world’s largest cryptocurrency has fallen more than 6% to $ 54,425.11 in the last 24 hours. The sudden fall in the crypto world has brought Bitcoin to its lowest level since October. Bitcoin has fallen by more than 20% from a record high of nearly $ 69,000.

Other cryptocurrencies were also put into the tank on Friday as the horror of the new Covid-19 variant surprised investors. The second cryptocurrency, Ether, fell nearly 7% to $ 4,125.86, according to CoinMarketCap. Binance Coin fell 5.37% to $ 592.32 and Solana fell 5.19% to $ 195.36.
