Scotland entered another effective national blockade on Monday and is likely to last until spring, The Times reported.

Scottish government leader Nicola Sturgeon said earlier that her cabinet would meet on Monday to discuss possible further steps to limit the spread of the virus and ordered the Scottish Parliament to be recalled.

According to the newspaper, the reopening of the school is expected to be postponed after January 18.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday that perhaps tighter blockade restrictions are underway as cases of Covid-19 continue to grow.

Johnson sets the policy of England, and the rules of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales are set by the delegated authorities.

Covid-19 cases in the United Kingdom are at record levels, and the increase in numbers is driven by new, more contagious variants of the virus.

The UK recorded 54,990 new cases of the virus on Sunday, recording more than 75,000 deaths from the pandemic.
