Xiaomi shared a post in May this year, showing off a 200W charging speed with some changes on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. During testing, the company used a charging chip from another Chinese brand, NuVolta Technologies. Reports have emerged claiming that the second generation of this charging chip was commercially available. This could mean that either Xiaomi or any other OEM can incorporate a fast charging mechanism that can support speeds up to 200W.
According to a GizChina report, NuVolta Technologies has launched the NuVolta NU2205. This is a pump fast charging chip that claims to provide the best power in the industry. The power can reach 100W and the resulting power can reach a whopping 200W as it supports the dual cell 4: 3 pump fast charging architecture. In addition, the company also claims to offer better thermal management despite its high charge capacity.
In a post shared by Xiaomi with a 200W charger, the company can be seen charging the modified Mi 11 Pro with a 4000mAh battery. The 200W adapter was able to charge the phone up to 10% in just 44 seconds. 50% in just 3 minutes, 100% in less than 8 minutes.
In addition, the company also exhibited 120W wireless charging. With the wireless charging method, a 4000mAh battery was charged up to 10% in 1 minute. It took 7 minutes to reach the midpoint. It took 15 minutes to fully charge the battery to 100%.
About two years ago, a Chinese company released a similar post sharing a fast charging speed of 100W, which took 17 minutes to fully charge the battery.
Demonstrations were only possible with certain equipment, including charging bricks, certain data cables, and batteries that may not be the standard units used on the commercial Mi 11 Pro.
