British Covid vaccine arrives in Antarctica, Health News, ET Health World

The British Foreign Ministry said Thursday that delivery of the Covid vaccine had arrived in Antarctica to inoculate British researchers stationed in the polar wilderness. The cargo was delivered to the Rotera Institute of the British Antarctic Survey, and the outpost became the farthest destination in the British Overseas Territories and was supplied with jabs.

AstraZeneca’s shots flew from the Royal Air Force base in the United Kingdom via Senegal and the Falkland Islands, reaching 23 staff at the facility. The 16,000km journey across four continents concludes Britain’s commitment to vaccinate all British overseas territories in which it resides. The journey had to be carried out carefully to complete within 92 hours to prevent vaccine rot.
