The new generation Hyundai Creta has been well received in the Indian market and should be included in the list if you are considering purchasing a compact SUV.We graph the strengths and weaknesses of this SUV

The new generation Hyundai Creta was first exhibited at the 2020 Auto Expo, after which the car could actually be seen. It was a big move from what had Crete, as the new generation was bigger, better, and more tech-focused than before. Of course, if you put in value for the price of a compact SUV, you’ll see why it’s in the top position in this segment. If you’re looking for a compact SUV and this car has a lot to bring to the table, the Hyundai Creta is a natural choice. Let’s take a quick look at the five strengths and weaknesses of Hyundai Creta.

Strong Points

  1. The interior of the SUV has been completely redesigned. The 1.5-liter model uses a black and beige dual-tone color scheme, and the 1.4-liter turbo model uses an all-black color scheme. When it comes to dashboards, the new Crete gets a completely new unit and has a minimalist feel to it. Thanks to the new design, you can get a sense of space even in dark colors.
  2. The highlight is the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The screen is capacitive and very intuitive. The visibility is sharp and there are multiple options for customizing widget options. In addition, the new Hyundai Creta is also a connected car like the venue, and the top model will be equipped with Hyundai’s BlueLink connection technology. Below the infotainment unit are climate control controls, which, to be honest, seem a bit overwhelming.

  3. Top-spec models feature wireless charging, ambient lights, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, a small digital display on the backseat armrests, and a new panoramic sunroof. The display has air purifier controls for a clean touch. The SUV also features smartwatch app connectivity, ventilated seats, electric parking brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for ambient lighting, and a flip camera.
  4. The new generation of Crete has three engine options: 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter VGT diesel, and 1.4-liter turbo GDI petrol. Naturally aspirated gasoline and diesel engines produce peak torques of 113bhp, 144Nm and 250Nm, respectively, while turbo gasoline produces torques of 138bhp and 242Nm. Transmission options include an optional torque converter for 1.5 diesel engines, a 7-speed DCT for 1.4 turbo petrol, and an iVT automatic for 1.5 petrol motors, as well as a standard 6-speed manual for the entire range.
  5. The Crete dimensions are larger, which not only gives you more boot space than before, but also makes your car more spacious. The width of the car looks wide, so it has dignity on the road.

Disadvantages

  1. Crete design is something you have to get used to. Design is a subjective issue anyway, but I think it was more aggressive.
  2. Crete’s driving dynamics could have been better, as the steering doesn’t get too heavy when the SUV speeds up. It’s great, but it can be operated in urban driving conditions.
  3. Depending on the variant you are looking for, the waiting period for Crete will be almost 8 months, and it’s a long wait!
  4. Crete base trim doesn’t get too much equipment, in fact there is no audio system available for it, which means you have to go to a higher variant to get it
  5. Hyundai has done a lot to make Crete more luxurious than before, but we think a softer feel material may be used in the car to make it a little more attractive. Using only hard plastic in the cabin is a small mistake we think of.
