Thiruvananthapuram: An Air India Express flight from here to Saudi Arabia had to make an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Saturday after a crack in the aircraft’s front shield was detected, airport officials said. Told.
After taking off from here at around 7:52 am within the first hour of the flight, the pilot noticed a crack in the windshield of the plane and urged him to return to Tilvananta Plum for an emergency landing at around 8:50 am. did.
However, due to Covid-19’s restrictions on international travel to specific destinations, there were no passengers on the plane. And it carried only cargo and eight crew members.
All crew members, including pilots, are safe, CV Rabindran, director of Thiruvananthapuram Airport, told PTI.
He also stated that if the pre-flight check detected a crack, the plane would not have taken off, so it must have occurred during takeoff or cruising.
He added that the flight was scheduled to return from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with Indian passengers as part of the “Vandevarat Mission.”
