Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Deputy Prime Minister Ajit Pawar, and State Interior Minister Dilip Walse Patil paid tribute at the monument to the police headquarters in South Mumbai.
The Martyr’s Monument was moved from the original location of Marine Drive Police Gymkhana to Crawford Market Police Headquarters for ongoing work on the Coastal Road Project.
Prime Minister Uddhav Thacke, who is recovering at a hospital in Mumbai after spinal surgery, also remembered the 26/11 martyr.
The 13th anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack was attended by a limited number of people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The family of the martyred police officer also paid homage to the monument.
“13 years later, their courage in the face of extreme adversity still inspires us. I remember the Mumbai savior on the 26/11 anniversary,” said the Mumbai Police Commissioner. One Hemant Nagrale tweeted.
“We will forever hold their unwavering spirit in our hearts. Their sacrifices will always be memorable,” Mumbai police tweeted.
Federal Interior Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the boldness of security personnel who fought terrorists and made the highest sacrifices.
“The whole country is proud of your courage and always remembers your sacrifice,” Shah tweeted.
On November 26, 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists arrived by sea from Pakistan, firing, killing 166 people, including 18 security personnel, and counting during a 60-hour siege in Mumbai. A person was injured.
